Financial Literacy

quote

Financial education needs to become a part of our national curriculum and scoring systems in schools. - Robert Kiyosaki

Financial Literacy

At Sherwood High, we believe that financial literacy is a life skill. Our Financial Literacy programme equips students with age-appropriate knowledge of money, value, saving, budgeting, and ethical decision-making skills that empower them to navigate the real world with confidence.

Starting from the basics in primary years such as understanding needs vs wants, we gradually build towards more complex concepts like entrepreneurship, taxation, digital transactions, and investing. Lessons are hands-on and interactive: mock markets, budgeting games, storytelling, and real-world simulations turn abstract ideas into engaging experiences.

The programme is integrated with our broader goal of cultivating responsible global citizens. Through discussions around sustainability, charitable giving, and community impact, students learn that finance is about choices, consequences, and values.

Sessions are co-facilitated by trained teachers and finance professionals, ensuring relevance and accuracy. Cross-disciplinary links with math, economics, and social science help reinforce concepts in meaningful ways.

By fostering a strong financial foundation early, we prepare students to make informed decisions, respect resources, and grow into financially wise, ethically grounded adults. At Sherwood High, we don't just teach math—we teach money sense that lasts a lifetime.
